Update: Let's pretend I uploaded this two days ago.

Just to let you know, I wrote this blog a couple days ago, and forgot to upload it, and so I'm doing it now, because hell if I'm going to write a blog and not upload it, so here it is.

“So Nathan what have you been doing over the holidays? Lots of hard work?”
Haha! Nope!
Well Uni starts up next Monday, and every time I think about it I think “Oh no! Oh wait, Yay!” I’ve realised over the holidays that I can only work on games when someone other than me is wanting it to be done, I say this because multiple times over the break I tried to start making my game “Argoth” a text based choose your own adventure game.
First try I got stuck with trying to think of ways I would handle the thousands of options that would inevitably be in the game, I did come up with a couple ideas, but it all stopped when I opened up Visual Studios, I instantly got sick of the idea and went back to playing all my lovely games.
Second time trying to start the game I actually started to write things down thinking that if I had something to go off then making the game it would be easier to actually start programming it, I got an idea about how I wanted the Ui and menu system to work, I even got down what stats I wanted players to have and even the very start of the story for each race. Then I got sick of it and stopped.
Third time and last time, with an idea down on paper I decided I’ll start to make assets for the game, because that always stops me mid coding and gets me off track. I almost stopped doing it on the very first asset after remembering I suck at making assets but I decided I would just make shitting make shift ones for now and do them over at another time. And they didn’t turn out that bad, I have all the menus done and even character selection and attribute selection done. After I had made what I thought was enough assets, I actually started to code; I got the game showing the main menu, then I stopped and haven’t picked it up yet.
So unless I end up making this game for Uni I think it is going to be a very long time before I have much of it done, but it is fun and I enjoyed doing what I did, I just enjoyed playing already finished games more.
Well that’s all for now, I thought I would give an update, mainly for me, so I can look back at this when I’m a powerful games programmer and laugh at my younger self.
Till next time.
Nathan out!
