Well, it has begun, again. Uni is back up and it’s time to… play Frisbee?
So Class starts up, Mike (Lecturer) walks in with a bunch of Frisbees in his hand, sits them on the table and says nothing of it. Time went by as he explained what was going to happen this trimester and what we can expect, then we got into it.
The task set before us was to go play some sports and analyse the feelings and environment and how we can implement these feelings and allow the player to know it’s happening. So we went outside… into the sun… something that I hope I don’t have to do for a long time. I got sun burnt, I said it would happen, and it did.
We played Frisbee for a while, and it was fun, acted as a little team bonding exercise as well as being able to get a feel of what you need to put into a game to make it more lifelike. We went back to the safety of the badly lit rooms of Qantm and worked on and an idea of a game where we implement different ways for a player to experience or visually show what we felt while playing Frisbee.
It was mentioned that on Wednesday, we are going to start / be given a task to come up with, then we will spend a couple weeks making it, so that should be fun.
At the moment I’m thinking of making an Archery game, but a mix between quidditch and football, where there is one arrow and each player had a bow and your task is to get the arrow through the ring on the other side of the field, while the other team is trying to do the same thing. Players are to shoot the arrow to team mates to get it across the fiend, when you have the arrow you cannot move.
I’m thinking it could either be a gory type game, where the arrows have pointed tips and each pass the arrow sticks into you and you pull it out and shoot it. Or it could be a ball on the end of the arrow and if you don’t catch it when it is shot at you, it will just bounce off.
But I’ll have to work on the idea and see if it is doable, and then I’ll have a go at making it.
Well that’s all for now, if anything interesting happens tomorrow at Uni I’ll upload another blog.
Till next time.
Nathan out!
